Computer Hardware Labelling and Barcode Inventory Automation
Computers such as laptops, notebooks, desktops and servers in large quantities can be difficult to manage. However, if you have a inventory, barcoding, labelling and reporting solution that can automate everything; which can replace humans and perform the same task as human but so much faster and more efficiently and error free than human being, then what more you can ask.

Most brand new or used IT equipment in raw condition such as desktops, laptops and servers does not have any software or operating system. Wholesale, resale businesses and repair shops have to take note of each and every component by examining the BIOS of the each system. Examining the BIOS of each system manually takes too much time and the process is manual which is prone to errors. Imagine taking note of hardware components and configuration from several thousand system manually, it may takes months if not weeks.
There are many software based inventory software in the market which requires inventory item to have operating system and probe software installed and a dedicated server with inventory server software. But in cases of wholesale computer business or resale computer business raw computers without operating systems are dealt with; handling thousands and millions of computers equipment every month it is not feasible nor advisable to install the operating system and software on each and every machine. There are many complications with installing OS, inventory probe software on each client., for example you have to consider the OS license costs, time it takes to install and configure the OS and inventory probe on each client and other configurations. It is just not possible neither practical to do this on thousands of computers that will be sold the next hour or day. Computer systems in this industry are very fast moving items.
Therefore a inventory solution was needed that is fully automated which can perform inventory on computers that does not have any operating systems or may not have any hard disk drives present. True OS less and software less inventory solution which can do the inventory automatically on several thousand computers concurrently, record details of hardware components, hardware configuration, produces several useful reports, draws charts and automatically prints barcode labels for each system. An easy manageable inventory solution that you can access using mobile phone or any operating system and web browser.

NIS - Networked based computer hardware inventory solution was created specifically to address issues mentioned above. NIS inventory software is fully automated and works with just push of power button on the client machine, no software installation or operating system installation is required. NIS computer hardware inventory software is a multi-tasking system and is capable of taking inventory of thousands of systems concurrently as well as automatically prints barcode labels concurrently for thousands of computers.
This Network based computer hardware component inventory solution works over isolated network specially designed for OS less and software less computers, desktops and laptops. A number of computers are attached to LAN, and power is turned on. Systems broadcasts a signal over this isolated LAN and in response NIS server responds with a specially developed and compact OS that is delivered to each client machine over network, which temporarily resides in the RAM - Memory of the client machine. This tiny OS collects all the hardware configuration information from the client machines and reports the data back to NIS server which then processes this data and stores it in the database, as well as it creates hundreds of reports, charts and barcode self-adhesive labels are also automatically printed, this all happens automatically without human intervention. After about 5 minutes client machines are automatically switched off to save energy.
Note: Since the entire operation happens in the memory the "client item computer" called RAM. Anything that happens in RAM is remembered temporarily while the computer stays switched-on. When the computer is reset or powered-off there is no trace left. Because computer RAM Memory is temporary in nature not permanent.

See below an example of the workstation booting up from NIS - PXE network and performing the auto-inventory.

Also see below ZPL printing automatically printing the pre-selected self adhesive barcode label. NIS currently supports 6 different size of barcode labels, below 76x25mm label and 102x152mm labels can seen automatically printed.

Labels can then be attached to the desktop / laptop.
See below various examples of different size of labels.
